Field sevice to me was a modern counterpart of the early Christian flagellant movement. It amounted to allowing the public to "beat me up" in some insane attempt to appease God. Such a "whipping" didn't stop the spread of the Black Death in the 1300s and this form of humiliation didn't work for me either.

How did you REALLY feel when you where out in field service?
by megaflower ini never felt comfortable knocking on door and i hoped no one would be home.
my presentation was short and to the point because i did not want to get into discussions.
as we walked from "door to door" i secretly wished i could be like all the ones i saw in the nighborhood.

Mrs Fiorini:
Would it matter at all if I loved her once she has chosen her love of God over mine? Core issue for me.

I am married to a JW who will not confront me as to her upset that I have given up the faith. She is however, passively agressive; constantly ignoring my thoughts and ideas , giving greater weight to comments made by her fellow believers, and constantly monitoring and pointing out any erros on my part. She, to my recollection refuses to accept responsibilty for anything. She is unhappy and I am tired of pretending that I don't think that she is druging her pain with the church.
Question: Even though she works hard in providing material support, would it be better to call it a day and move on, allowing her to find someone with whom she believes she might spend "eternity" with OR should I suck it up and accept the bad with the good. Also, Am I depriving myself of emotional contentment by remaining and allowing her to look down on me? Of course there are other factors with the situation but I am starting with the most crutial issue.

Do You Think The Organization Is Corrupt?
by minimus inmany witnesses regard the organization as their "mother".
whatever "mother" says is what we do.
"mother knows best!".

The scriptures they use amount to an admission of corruption. (1Corn. 15:50 NWT) advises that flesh and blood cannot inherit Gods Kingdom since it is corrupt ... Decidedly, the answer must be YES.

Now... How do I stop thinking about this...
by marketman inok... this is marketman (a.k.a ptucker) and you have all been very helpful in your previous postings.
now, maybe someone can give me some advice on how to stop thinking about jw doctrines, jehovah, and everything else associated with this situation.. i wake up thinking about it... i go to sleep thinking about it... i thought this was it... i thought this was the spiritual direction i needed even though i am questioning every aspect of it now.
yesterday i went to a bible service at another church and i enjoyed it a lot but i kept thinking "what if this is wrong... what if jehovah is the answer..." i need to stop thinking about it... can anyone provide insight on how some of you mustered through.

To me, it's like a cancer or malaria... the disease will always be in our mind even after we believe we are past the crisis ... formerly being a JW for many is a life-long battle. I personally know people who have not been in a KH for 40 years who are still so angry they keep a gun by their front door in case any publisher mistakenly knocks ... wish I had better news, but I doubt that flashbacks of your traumatic experience will ever completely go away ...

Did you ever experience caution or fear at being introduced to a brother with a beard?
by cattails indid you ever experience caution or an uneasy fear when being introduced to a brother with a beard?.
for years everytime i met someone introduced to me as bro so-and-so who might have a beard (and there weren't that many times), my here-comes-trouble radar turned on.. .
i would be very cautious in talking to this brother.

I still do!
Mother raised me to be prejudice ... I believe it is the one mindset that is environmental rather than genetic.
Shamefully, I have a list of negative "first blush" judgements that, at this point, have been life long ...
Besides demonic facial hair, please do not comment if you are Black, Yellow, Italian, Jewish, Worldly(???) or Sucessful. Do not bother me if you wear leather pants, short skirts, shirts with sports logos on them, have long hair OR shave your head. Leave me alone if you belong to the Lion's Club, the Military, work for the Police Derpartment, or have been seen entering or leaving a church. I must condemn you if you have ever saluted a flag, owned an early american lamp with an eagle on it, played high school sports, sat on Santa Clause's lap, or used the word orgasm ... I could go on but I must now go into my bathroom, stumble over a pile of my wife's Watchtower magazines, and throw up ...
